Twin Cities Community Hospital receives award for support of LGBTQ community

TEMPLETON — Twin Cities Community Hospital and Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center were sponsors of the 22nd Annual Pride in the Plaza.

During the celebration on July 8, Twin Cities was recognized for its commitment and support for the LGBTQ community. The Growing Together Initiative presented the hospital with an award for demonstrating ongoing support of social justice, inclusivity and equality for the LGBTQ community in San Luis Obispo County.

“At Twin Cities, we are focused on providing a safe and welcoming environment to everyone we serve and to delivering high-quality care to all our patients,” said Mark Lisa, CEO of Twin Cities Community Hospital. “As such, we must provide care that is culturally competent and patient-centered to all people, regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, disability or veteran status.”

Twin Cities earned its LGBTQ Healthcare Equality Leader designation from the Human Rights Campaign Foundation earlier this year, becoming the first and only hospital in San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties to do so. Sierra Vista is looking to follow suit in the near future.
